Hope Notes – June 20, 2011 – Be Discerning about Twilight

This is extremely important if you are raising pre-teens or teens, but it is also very important if you are an adult that has been sucked in by this ilk. Today is the day to guard your heart. The paths to your heart are your eyes and ears. What you read and listen to are more important today than ever.

While this deals with Twilight and the vampire, werewolf, death things genre, it is extremely important to also be discerning about what your little ones watch today. A great deal of the anime/japanese comics they are pushing off for little kids are full of subtle things that our children should not be ingesting. So be involved in what your child is watching and reading. Their spirits are listening….

The link to the full sermon is under the video on the youtube page. It’s really excellent.

Be discerning about Twilight..

Be blessed!

Hope Notes – June 18, 2011 Know God’s Will

You CAN know God’s will in a situation.

You must if you are to have faith in an area. You find out God’s will for a situation in His Word.

Because FAITH comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Christians running around saying “You just never know what God is going to do…” Is nonsense from the pits of hell.

Christians saying things like “God always answers prayers sometimes He says no” is directly against what the Word says.

Jesus is the express image of God and never said no.

Scripture itself says that the promises of God are yes and amen!

Find out what those promises are so you know His will in a situation and you know what to put your faith in no matter what you see.

Sickness is not God’s will for your life.

Sickness is death begun….

If you aren’t so sure about this get in the Word and read and then read some more and find any place in the Word that Jesus said no to anyone. Build up your faith.

The only time that people were not healed , the Word says, is because of their unbelief.

When we see sickness, death and destruction allowed in the Old Testament it is on the unrighteous, disobedient and heathens that refused to listen to God’s word. It is judgement.

It is *not* for the righteous, believers. Jesus died for you to make sure of that.

I know we hate to hear that we have to do something about our faith because we much prefer no-fault religion where it’s not our fault and that means it must be God’s will. That is NOT the truth you will find in His Word.

We are not “some old sinners saved by grace”!

We became new creations, the old sinner is gone!

Too many problems around us, in our lives and in the body of Christ today are caused by a simple lack of knowledge of the Word of GOD, which you can easily rectify.

Do yourself and your family a favor and get in the Word of God today, find out what He says about you and believe it above all things. Then, and only then can God move in your life!

Be blessed!

Hope Notes – June 16, 2011 – The Blame Game

In an online group I am in we are studying the life of Eve. It has been very interesting and fun to participate in.

Today in my reading I read 1 John 1 and I saw something interesting.

1 John 1 8-9 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)

All they had to do was confess their sin.

Instead they hid, and placed blame on someone else. Basically saying they had no sin, it was someone else’s fault.

Because they didn’t repent, there was no answer for sin other than sacrifice from here on in because through sin death entered the world.

All they had to do was confess their sin.

Genesis 3:11-13 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”

The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (KJV)

(It’s interesting to note God didn’t ask the serpent a thing).

But they didn’t repent , they pointed blame and took no responsibility themselves.

Something I am oft too quick to do myself, especially with my spouse and our marriage.

The Word tells us Eve was deceived and Adam wasn’t, both were put under the curse for their own sin.

Thankfully we have our sacrifice through Jesus! And no other sacrifice is needed. But be quick to repent! Quick! Quick! Quick! Leave no door open for the serpent to steal , kill or destroy anything in your life today.

Just something to consider in your travels today!

Be blessed!

Hope Notes – June 14,2011

The world wants to see it before it believes it, the Word says to believe it before you see it.

How do you believe something before you see it? The Word tells us:

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

You get in the Word!

Listen to some great Word teaching (there are links on the right side of this blog that lead to some of the best teaching on the net to listen to, fill the air with the WORD.)

Read the bible daily, whether it’s 1 chapter or 10, get in the habit of reading the bible every day, expecting it to change you, expecting it to be opened to you, revealed to you by the Holy Spirit.

Prayer, spend some time being quiet and listen to God when you are done with your reading. While us talking in prayer is great! Sometimes you must let God get a word in edgewise!

Now ponder…. The world wants to see it before it believes it, the Word says to believe it before you see it.

Be blessed!

2nd Prayer request – June 10,2011

We just received this prayer request from Amy, so we bring it to you based on this scripture:

Matthew 18:19-20 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”(NKJV)

Amy sent us this:

“Would you please pray for my friend Liz? I just had a phone call from a long time mutual friend (Pam) to share that Liz’s 21 yr old son died yesterday morning. Alex survived the frontlines in Afghanistan and was back home at his Army base in NY. He apparently collapsed, had a seizure and died around 1am yesterday. The autopsy didn’t show anything immediately so they’re waiting for toxicology tests to come back. If this wasn’t hard enough to handle, Liz’s brother committed suicide on May 1 so she was still dealing with that situation.”

We ask that you pray in agreement that the Holy Spirit, the comforter, would hold her close and comfort her during this time. That He would draw her closer to Him and give her peace.

Power in the Name – Part 4 – Covenant- June 10, 2011

Hope Notes – June 10, 2011

We have looked, in the past weeks, at the Power in the Name or Names of God.

As a short recap (with links back to the blog posts):
First, we read a sermon spoken by the great evangelist and teacher Smith Wigglesworth

Second,we looked at the significance a name has and it’s importance.

Thirdly, we looked at the foundational names of God.

Today I want to get to what are called the Covenant names. They are called this because they tell us something God promises to do, something about Him that he promised to do for us. A covenant is an agreement between two parties. In our case, God handled both sides of the Covenant. Being the God and being the sacrifice (Jesus).

He “cut” the covenant all by  himself for us so that it can never fail.

Now let’s look some of God’s covenant names that show us promises He gave to His people.

The covenant names of God contain Hebrew letters Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey. YHVH. Some pronounce this Jehovah, some pronounce it Yahweh.

JEHOVAH (Yahweh)

  • LORD in our English Bibles (all capitals). is the covenant name of God.
  • Occurs 6823 times in the OT. It’s first use is in Gen. 2:4 (Jehovah Elohim).
  • From the verb “to be”, havah, similar to chavah (to live), it means “The Self-Existent One.”
  • “I AM WHO I AM” or ‘I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE” as revealed to Moses at the burning bush, Ex.3.
  • The name of God, believed by the Jews to be too sacred to be uttered, abbreviated or written. So they wrote it “YHWH” without vowel points. This is called the tetragrammaton.
  • The books of Joshua., Judges, Samuel., and Kings use Jehovah almost exclusively.

JEHOVAH-JIREH:

  • “The Lord will Provide.” Gen. 22:14.
  • From “jireh” (“to see” or “to provide,” or to “foresee” as a prophet.)
  • God always provides, adequate when the times come.

JEHOVAH-ROPHE:

  • “The Lord Who Heals” Ex. 15:22-26.
  • From “rophe” (“to heal”); implies spiritual, emotional as well as physical healing. (Jer. 30:17, 3:22; Isa. 61:1)
  • God heals body, soul and spirit; all levels of man’s being.

JEHOVAH-NISSI:

  • “The Lord Our Banner.” Ex. 17:15.
  • God on the battlefield, from word which means “to glisten,” “to lift up,”
  • See Psalm 4:6.

JEHOVAH-M’KADDESH:

  • “The Lord Who Sanctifies”
  • “To make whole, set apart for holiness.”
  • The Lord says: “Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the Lord your God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy.” (Leviticus 20:7-8)

JEHOVAH-SHALOM:

  • “The Lord Our Peace” Judges 6:24. “
  • Shalom” translated “peace” 170 times means “whole,” “finished,” “fulfilled,” “perfected,” “Nothing missing, nothing broken.”
  • Related to “well,” welfare.”
  • Deut. 27:6; Dan. 5:26; I Kings 9:25 8:61; Gen. 15:16; Ex. 21:34, 22:5, 6; Lev. 7:11-21.
  • Shalom means that kind of peace that results from being a whole person in right relationship to God and to one’s fellow-man.

JEHOVAH ELOHIM:

  • “LORD God” Gen. 2:4; Judges 5:3; Isa. 17:6; Zeph. 2:9; Psa. 59:5, etc.

JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU

  • “The Lord Our Righteousness” Jer. 23:5, 6, 33:16.
  • From “tsidek” (straight, stiff, balanced – as on scales – full weight, justice, right, righteous, declared innocent.)
  • God our Righteousness.

JEHOVAH-ROHI:

  • “The Lord Our Shepherd” Psa. 23, from “ro’eh” (to pasture).

JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH:

  • “The Lord is There” (Ezek. 48:35).

JEHOVAH-SABAOTH:

  •   “The Lord of Hosts”
  • The commander of the angelic host and the armies of God. Isa. 1:24; Psa. 46:7, 11; 2 Kings 3:9-12; Jer. 11:20
  • (NT: Rom. 9:29; James 5:4, Rev. 19: 11-16).

Now these names have amazing Power in our lives. We are often familiar with them from songs or other sermons or teachings that we’ve had, so we may tend to skim over them.

I would recommend two things.

1: Go back and read these names out loud. Letting the Holy Spirit touch your heart with them and bring to rememberance when in your life this Covenant name was in power.

2: Look up the scriptures. See what God means when He uses these names to describe Himself.

Be blessed!

Prayer Alert – Billye Brim

Please see the prayer alert below from Billye Brim Ministries regarding the threat to Israel’s borders today. Let’s stand in faith upon our post of observation and station ourselves to watch with other pray-ers, praying in the Spirit over Israel (Hab. 2:1).

This is not about politics, this is about doing what the bible commands.

Billye Brim Blog and Prayer Alert From Jerusalem – June 7, 2011

I awoke very early this morning. And it came to my mind to call you to prayer regarding the threatened breaching of the borders of Israel and Jerusalem today, Tuesday, June 7.  The eve of Pentecost is here.

God set the borders of the nations in relation to the borders of the chosen nation, the children of Israel.

Deut. 32:8 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

Deut. 32:9 For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

Enemies of Israel, now plan to breach Israel’s borders.

We join now, from all around the world, to ask You, Oh, Most High, to protect those borders. To send your mighty warriors to protect Your Land.

And to protect JERUSALEM and her borders according to Your Word.

Psa. 74:17 Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.

Psa. 147:14 He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

Mic. 5:6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

Psa. 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Is. 62:7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

In the Name Above Every Name, We Pray Thank You, Our Father, for answering this prayer for Your Land.

Love in Him,

Billye Brim
