Mother’s Day 2011

As I looked at all the Mother’s Day greetings and images online I realized something again. That when we are young and have our babies we are often so busy working, living, worrying, cleaning, and more working that we often miss their entire childhood.  Then, before you know it, they are grown.  I learned this lesson before my children were grown but I see so many around me that are missing so much. Stop wishing their and your lives away saying silly things like “I can’t wait until they are back in school” or “I can’t wait until they are 18 and move out”.

Slow down,  get in the dirt and play, none of that other stuff matters, enjoy your children now while they are still children! 🙂

Here is a great article I read this morning.

Happy Mother’s day to all of you out there, whether your children have 2 legs or 4! 🙂

Be blessed!

Weapons against Strife – Finale!

Morning Hope – May 7, 2011

James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (KJV)

Galatians 5:22-23 but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)

We are going to wrap up looking at using the fruit of the Spirit as weapons against strife.

Keep in mind the basic definition of strife, “self-centeredness”.

  • It is making everything in the situation about you.
  • It’s trusting only in yourself to fix the problem.
  • It is relying on yourself for ideas, and confrontations.
  • It is only relying on yourself to “Fix” the other person.

By reading that list you should now see how the fruit of the Spirit called “Faith” combats strife.

  • Faith says I trust GOD.
  • Faith says I can’t do it myself.
  • Faith says God said it and I believe it so matter what I see at the moment.
  • Faith says God is on the job!
  • Faith says God is big enough!

Do you see the difference? Strife makes it about you, humanism. Faith makes it about God, where lies the victory!

So if you follow that thought it is quite easy to see how meekness and temperance also fit this model.

Meekness toward God is that disposition of spirit in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting.

If it isn’t good, it is not from God. Period. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy, not God. His thoughts toward you are for GOOD.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Allowing the fruit of the Spirit to rule, which we have said many times in this series, is just letting Who lives in you do the work, letting the Spirit of God that dwells in you be a higher priority than your bossy self.

Which leads us to temperance, which means self-control. We will close up with the definition of self-control.

Self-control – the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, esp. his sensual appetites

The *only* way to do this is to let God run the show folks.

Amazing results happen when you tell strife to hit the door! But rest assured the moment you think you’re going to apply this strife will knock double time on your door. That’s when you remember this promise:

2 Corinthians 2:14aNow thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ

It says always. It doesn’t say sometime. Knowing the will of God in this situation, which I pray you do by now, you know it is not God’s will for you to be in strife. So you will be victorious!

It is not an overnight thing, it is a lifetime of seeing , and battling this vile thing when it raises it head in your life. Sometimes it is easy and sometimes not so much, but you can have victory and you can see amazing changes in your life if you walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Be blessed!

Weapons against Strife – Goodness

Morning Hope – May 5, 2011

James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (KJV)

Galatians 5:22-23 but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)

We must keep strife out of our lives because with it come confusion and every evil work. To do so we need weapons, and we are looking at the fruit of the Spirit as some of our weapons against strife because we know our weapons are not carnal but are of the Spirit. This means it is HIM in us working these things, which gives us the power to do them even when our flesh is in a bunch over it. He makes us always victorious the Word says. HE.. not you, not how strong you are, but HE. Submitting to Him allows these fruit to grow in our lives as we walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

Today we are up to the Fruit of the Spirit that is called goodness. What is goodness? It basically means morally upright, it means that you do the right thing even when the wrong thing is being done to you.

It also means not lying. Your word should always be good. The word says that you should keep your word to your own harm.  What you say is vital and has power in your life and others lives.

When strife is screaming in our face it’s quite easy to scream back with exaggerations, which in their purest definition are just lies. We scream back, “If you do that again I will kill you!!”.  We, of course, do not mean that.  It’s a lie and it puts in motion a power that comes with our words that we never want to let loose. If this happens to you repent of it immediately to stop the seeds of destruction.

This is also quite common with married folk when arguing they throw out the ‘D’ word, divorce, like it was something that God doesn’t hate. I promise you that He hates any breaking of covenant.

Never, ever, use the word divorce when arguing with your spouse. It makes it an option when it never should be, even if there was no reason before, and you are just exaggerating, (aka lying) the seed is planted and then strife allows it to take hold and makes things worse. It becomes a destructive force in your life. Your mind starts playing with it and you start thinking about other “excuses” for divorce. The destruction is in motion and an option in your life.

So the Holy Spirit in us allows us to do the right thing when the wrong thing is thrown in our face and He allows us to stop lying. Not bad for one little Fruit eh? 🙂

Speak life!

Be blessed!

Weapons against Strife – Gentleness

Morning Hope – May 4, 2011

We are going to continue looking at the fruits of the Spirit as weapons to use when strife rears its ugly head around us.

Here are our two key scriptures.

James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (KJV)

Galatians 5:22-23 but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)

I think everyone knows what gentleness means, but incase you don’t it means “going easy” in southern vernacular. It means having a “soft touch”. It means that whatever you do is felt like a breath, not like a tornado.

We’ve seen this before and how it deflates strife.

Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. (KJV)

It’s like a pin stuck in a balloon, it stops strife and takes away it’s power.

This is another one of those things that may make you think that it is you being passive or being a doormat, but once again, God’s way of doing things is opposite of the worlds and actually works. You don’t need to be mean, rough or caustic to get your point across.

Now here is something to consider when someone is screaming in your face or being passively aggressive (which I find harder to give a gentle answer to , personally).

You don’t get to keep the strife going in your mind while your mouth is being gentle. The Word is very clear about what goes on in your thoughts is the same as doing it.

So the first step maybe what you say, but the thing that then needs to be worked on is what goes on in your head.

Your inner attitude is the deciding factor on whether this is a gift of the Spirit or a work of the flesh. Works of the flesh will not accomplish what you want even if you are “Doing” what appears right.

So if you are having some failure in this area or things don’t appear to be working, check the thought life.

Be blessed!

As I was preparing to continue our study today about the weapons against strife, the Lord was bringing up things in my heart about the horrible destruction in Alabama and other states. Before I could compose my thoughts a friend covered them all in her blog today. So I am sharing her link today for you to read.

Healing Review

Morning Hope – April 28, 2011

Yes, God still heals today.
Jesus is the express image of God’s will and Jesus never said no, Jesus never said maybe, Jesus never said “well, you didn’t take good care of yourself, this is what happens.” Or any of the other tripe you will hear out there.
Jesus bore the curse for us. Every sickness is under the curse.
If those statements don’t bring up immediately scriptures for you, go read Galatians and Deuteronomy 28.
Why don’t we get healed immediately or at all sometimes? The answer lies with us.
Bottom line, our answer lies with the fact that we don’t know or believe what the Word says.
Doubt and unbelief blocks faith. No one has any problem believing they are saved, because it’s been preached so much that is has brought faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. But Healing isn’t preached, sadly it’s often preached against in our churches.
Today we just need to “ingest” some word again. Let it become more and more alive to us so that faith for healing, of our bodies and our land becomes so real, like salvation, we don’t need to “See” it to believe it.

Suggestion– Here is what I do with a healing scripture list. In my bible, I go to the page for the first scripture, write it at the top of the page. Then, directly under that I put the NEXT scripture that I want to go to. Repeat this on each page. At the last one, put the first scripture as the one to go to. You’ve formed a “healing circle” in your bible.

Then when you REALLY need the list, you don’t have to dig up a page and scramble through your bible finding them. Just open your bible and find one page with one part and you follow the “circle” through your own bible. It doesn’t matter when you begin. Hope that is clear. If not , email me and I’ll see if I can explain it further. — Kath

He loves you….

God loves you..

You’ve heard it many times and probably smile and think how wonderful that is.

Did you know God loves you as much as He loves Jesus?

Think about that… your flesh probably thinks… WHAT? NO WAY? That’s JESUS!!!

I’m here to tell you it’s true.  I’m here to tell you it’s fact.

John 17:23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.  (NKJV) (emphasis mine)

See it? Now say it out loud , maybe say it out loud a few times.

“God loves me as much as He loves Jesus.”

When things are feeling a bit rough during your days ahead, keep this in your “pocket” and use it liberally.

It makes demons flee my friends! 🙂

Be blessed

Weapons against Strife – Longsuffering

Morning Hope – April 22, 2011

Let’s look at our two key scriptures that address what we’ve been studying these past few days. Remember, they are well known scriptures, so don’t fly through them. Take your time, read them like you’ve never seen them before, letting the Holy Spirit open them up for you. Open your bible, read the scriptures around them.

James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (KJV)

Galatians 5:22-23 but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)

We are going to discuss long-suffering today. I can hear you now, “Oh sure, now we get to the part where I am a floor mat that lets everyone walk on me”. You couldn’t be further from the truth. Long-suffering is the word for patience. It is most often used when talking about God himself. That last thing He is is a mat to be walked on. Change your thinking in this area, let the word renew your mind about this word today.

Patience. This is where the metal hits the road, folks. This is where you sink your teeth into the battle and trust God in every area. Patience is being steadfast, consistent, and waiting calmly for manifestation of what you are believing for to occur. Without patience there is no faith. If you get everything immediately you have no need for faith.
Some look at patience as something to endure, when infact patience is the enduring itself. (read that a few times).
So in plain english, all patience really means is acting like a grown up. Not getting what you want and demanding it immediately, but doing what God has commanded and expecting the result God promises no matter what is raging around you. Not being moved by what you see, but by faith. We live by faith, not by sight.

Look at the promise we are given for our patience.

James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. (KJV)

Perfect means mature. It’s “grow up” time. And in the spiritual grown up land is where miracles live.
So by letting patience be the answer to strife when it gets in your face, you are promised spiritual maturity.

The word “entire” means WHOLE.
Let me show you the definition from Strong’s Concordance, because it’s powerful.

1) complete in all its parts, in no part wanting or unsound, complete, entire, whole
1a) of a body without blemish or defect, whether of a priest or of a victim
1b) free from sin, faultless
1c) complete in all respects, consummate

The word “wanting nothing” is the word for “no lack”.

Remember, these are Fruits of the Spirit, they aren’t coming from you. They are Him inside you, working these things. It’s submitting to Him that allows them to function in your life.

So when strife is raging around you, and you have walked in love, joy and peace, being patient is the next weapon. Strife makes you “impatient” like a child.

Need healing? Something missing in your life? Look back at your love walk, your joy walk and your peace walk, anything subpar there? How about being patient? God promises this and more to those walking in, submitting to the Fruit of the Spirit.

If you find no area lacking in your love, joy and peace walk, smile, because now you just be patient and watch the Hand of the Most High God move on your behalf! He promises it!

Be blessed!

He is risen!

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (KJV)

Matthew 28:6a  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said (KJV)

1Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (KJV)

Remember this one thing all day, since this is the 3rd day. He is risen!

and you along with Him!

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (KJV)

So for today, read the book of Ephesians and have the Holy Spirit reveal to you what happened for and to you, over 2000 years ago, today and walk in His victory!

Be blessed!

Weapons against Strife – Peace

Morning Hope – April 20, 2011

We’ve been looking at the fruit of the Spirit as spiritual weapons against strife.

Galatians 5: 22-23 but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)

Today I want you to read this verse yet again, slowly, purposely asking the Holy Spirit to make clear the revelation you need for victory against strife.

Strife comes at you in many forms.  Through angry words, snide comments, disobedient children, co-workers, people you love and people you don’t love. Often times it comes at you through people you don’t even know. And sometimes it even comes at you from within yourself, your own attitudes toward a situation can definitely be strife riddled.

Strife can come at you in the form of resentment and unforgiveness towards others as well. It has been said that holding anger, resentment, unforgiveness or blame toward another person is like drinking poison and expecting them to die.

It’s deadly. Physically and spirutually. Science has even come into agreement with this showing how stress effects your physical and mental health.

Peace on the other hand, is the perfect weapon against strife. We all have the worldly understanding of peace as calmness and that is one way it can be manifested.  Making a choice to stay calm when something or someone else isn’t.

When I looked up the word peace in greek, the one used in Galatians 5:22 this is what it says in Strong’s Concordance.
1.(a) exemption from the rage and havoc of war

I love this one! When strife comes up I can say “No! I have the fruit of the Spirit, which is Peace and I am exempt from strife having any foothold in my life and bringing confusion and every evil work!!!”

2. peace between individuals, i.e. harmony, concord

You can have peace between people even if it isn’t there right now! Glory to GOD!
6) the blessed state of devout and upright men after death

This one is interesting! It’s the same state we will have in heaven? We can have it right now?! GLORY , that’s dancing music right there folks!!!

So you see how Peace fits on top of Joy, yes!? God is GOOD!!

Be blessed!
