Week Thirty-SixDay 4:

Jeremiah 17-18

2 Timothy 4

Psalm 96

divider thornsStudy points:

Jeremiah 17-18

  • Pen of Iron, point of diamond, these are tools needed to write in stone, like their hearts have become.
  • This is a stark contrast to what God wants: His law written on circumcised hearts.
  • Jeremiah’s faithfulness is as strong as Judah’s unfaithfulness.
  • Judah’s covenant breaking is unprecedented.

2 Timothy 4

  • A time is coming again for us when people around us will not endure sound teaching.  Much like what Jeremiah endured, except we fight the good fight of faith and remain faithful like Jeremiah!

Psalm 96

  • Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people!

Week Thirty-SixDay 3:

Jeremiah 13-16

2 Timothy 3

divider thornsStudy points:

Jeremiah 13-16

  • Jeremiah was frustrated with people not listening, and frustrated with God for not listening to his intercessions for His people. He let God know about it and blamed God. God listened and then God rebuked him and told Jeremiah to speak the truth.
  • Jeremiah must side with God, not the people.

2 Timothy 3

  • As time passes, sin will become more and more prevalent in the world—all forms of sin. Just like in Jeremiah’s day.
  • We have something the people in Jeremiah’s day did not. A few somethings actually!  We have the Blood of Jesus, we have the written Word of God, and we have the Holy Spirit!
  • We have no reason to side with sin, but we must side with God.

Week Thirty-SixDay 2:

Jeremiah 9-12

2 Timothy 2

divider thornsStudy points:

Jeremiah 9-12

  • God talks, right to the very last second, to His people, calling them to repent, telling them what is coming through His prophet. He doesn’t want judgment to come upon them, but their sin has called to judgment. Their sin has removed God’s hand of protection off of them.

2 Timothy 2

  • We learn so that we can pass on what we learn to others so they can, in turn, pass it on to others. Not just so we can keep it to ourselves. Whether we teach formally, or with our lives, what we learn should always effect those around us.
  • The Lord will give us understanding of the Scriptures as we meditate on them.
  • Always be aware of your words so they do not hurt the faith of other believers.
  • Verses 24-26 are worth pondering: 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

Week Thirty-SixDay 1:

Jeremiah 5-8

2 Timothy 1

divider thornsStudy points:

Jeremiah 5-8

  • Judah’s unwillingness to repent has dire consequences.
  • Even for us, believers in Messiah, unwillingness to repent has consequences that may affect our entire lifetimes.
  • Trusting in works and how things look outwardly (going to the temple in Jeremiah’s case) without repentance was not going to prevent judgment.
  • Their hearts had to change and become circumcised, also.

2 Timothy 1

  • God did not give us a spirit of fear.
  • God did give us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.
  • “That day” is a reference to the end-time judgment of God’s wrath.
  • I know in whom I believe.

Mercy Over Judgment – Pastor Keith Moore

This 15 part series (link below) is one of the most powerful series I have studied in a long time.

It tells us so much about the character of God, but even more so about how we should treat one another. Mercy over judgment is what walking in love is all about. Mercy over judgment is what being of one Spirit is all about. Walking in love is the only way your faith will work.

The entire series in many formats is available to listen or watch free !  (There are 100s more also).

Click for more info: Mercy over Judgement.

Don’t miss out!

Be blessed!

Week Thirty-FiveDay 5:

Jeremiah 1-4

1 Timothy 6

divider thornsStudy points:

Jeremiah 1-4

  • Jeremiah lived in difficult times. He lived through the last good king (Josiah) through the fall of Jerusalem at the hands of Babylon.
  • His words were not popular, and despite his efforts to get them to repent and prevent judgment, they slid into exile.
  • Israel committed heinous adultery against the One to whom she was in covenant.

1 Timothy 6

  • A true person of God stands in stark contrast to false teachers, who are not people of God.
  • The call to fight the good fight of faith involves both fleeing from sin and pursuing good.

Zephaniah 1-3

divider thornsStudy points:

Zephaniah 1-3

  • The phrase “the day of the Lord” is used in scripture to speak to the day of God’s wrath. Judgment will happen in that time that includes both God’s people (Israel and Judah) and the nations.
  • Zephaniah scolded God’s people for acts of wickedness.
  • Zephaniah also speaks judgment against other nations for their pride and arrogance against God’s people and how they treated Israel.

1 Timothy 5

  • Honor, throughout the Scriptures, is a command to show respect. A respect demonstrated by one’s attitude and financial support.
  • We are commanded to honor widows and elders.

“Pursue and Overtake the Enemy!” by John Belt

I received this in my email today and it touched my heart, so I am passing it along in its entirety…

-Kath

“Pursue and Overtake the Enemy!”
by John Belt, Cincinnati, OH

I woke up in the wee early hours of the morning hearing the words “Pursue and overtake.” After meditating on these words for a while I realized that this was an actual quote from the Scriptures.

1 Samuel 30:7-8, “Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

God is speaking to His people in this time to “purse and overtake” the enemy. The power God has given us is far superior and gives us the ability to overtake the enemy of our souls. The Lord is calling His people to be aggressive and intentional, not taking any flak from the enemy, to go in and take back what is rightfully theirs. God is the just Judge who rules in our favor! It is high time to awake, rise up and take back all.

Gulliver’s Awakening

This is as well a time where the prophetic word by Bob Jones about “Gulliver’s Awakening” is re-emerging and coming to pass. The Body of Christ is awakening out of slumber, casting off all restraints, weights and sins that entangle so as to run the race that is set before by the Lord.

Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.”

In Bob’s word Gulliver was held down by “little people of little input” representing those who think more of themselves than they should, caught up in religiosity with mouths that need silenced. It is time for the Body of Christ to ROAR like the Lion of Judah, shaking off all the hindrances as to move into the life, presence and fresh anointing of God’s Spirit.

God Heals Imperfections

This is also a time of the curse being reversed for those who walk in the ways of God’s blessing. In a dream I saw someone “pointing the finger” at another – pointing out “imperfections and blemishes” in another person’s life (it was literally on the person’s face). Then suddenly, I saw the Lord heal that person with the blemish, then the person pointing the finger received the blemish on their face very much like a curse. This reminded me of the verse where the Lord says to Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.”

Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Those with angry, bitter and critical hearts will be judged if they don’t repent from this pride (Hebrews 12:4-5). We are what we are by the grace of God. If there is anything good in us it is only because of the Lord’s good work. God is patient with us but there is a time clock that runs out if we don’t humble ourselves. We should be quick to repent realizing that those who have been forgiven much, love much.

Luke 7:47, “Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

The reality is that we have ALL been forgiven much, which is the point that Jesus is making in this verse. The issue is with our revelation and understanding that we actually have been forgiven MUCH, every one of us. It is in this place of light that we have the grace to forgive others, even seventy times seven.

The Wave of God’s Glory

Recently I saw a huge wave of God’s glory coming. With it, because it was so great and powerful, I said to someone, “You cannot body surf this wave!” This was an amazing picture of the awesome wave of God’s glory that is coming. People will not be able to ride this wave “in the flesh” because they will get seriously hurt. We have to ride this coming wave of glory in the Spirit and by the Spirit. We don’t have to be perfect, but dependent on the Lord, filled with His love and yielded to the Holy Spirit.

Week Thirty-FiveDay 3:

Habakkuk 1-3

1 Timothy 4

divider thornsStudy points:

Habakkuk 1-3

  • Habakkuk starts out questioning God, but by the end he is a changed man, who has learned to wait and trust in God.
  • God does not fear our questions and will lift us up as we seek Him and trust Him through life events we don’t understand at the moment
  • Watching the sin around us, it is hard for us to understand, but God will always have answers when we seek Him.

1 Timothy 4

  • Timothy’s church was right in the middle of an area of extreme idolatry, paganism, and evil practices.
  • These cautions Paul gives to Timothy stand for believers today as well.  Do not mix things that are not of God (doctrines of demons, paganism, etc) with the things of God.
  • While we may not think we have pagan practices in our lives, it is always a good idea to search your heart and life for things that you are holding above God or for things that are not pleasing to God.

1 Timothy 3

divider thornsStudy points:

2 Kings 22-23; 2 Chronicles 34-35

  • Josiah’s reign returned Torah observance to the people, returning them to Godly worship, highlighted, as it always is, by the observance of Passover.
  • Even though exile to Babylon was prophesied (and occurred with the next evil king) Josiah endeavored to draw the people back to God and to destroy any evil in the land.

1 Timothy 3

  • After seeing so many problems with corporate worship in many churches, Paul lays down guidelines to be followed and checked for in any overseer of the churches.
  • This list matches very closely the one found also in Titus chapter 1.
